Due to the Covid19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching technical support, gallery work. Exhibitions and sales have disappeared.
On Instagram, @matthewburrowsstudio has instigated the brilliant initiative @artistsupportpledge a simple concept, whereby artists support each other by posting images of works they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping). Every time £1000 of sales is reached, the artist pledges to buy another artist’s work, or several artworks to the value of £200.
As part of this pledge I am offering the below Colour Tiles. Each is created from folding, layering and stitching together layers of acid-free drafting film and photographic lighting gels. The colours within the titles of each work refers to the gels used to create the surface colours. These colours gradually change as the angle of view or the angle of illumination changes.
To keep within the £200 (plus P&P) limit each tile will be created to order as part of an edition of five.
Created in spring 2020, the artworks measure 24 x 24 x 2.5cm and, with invisible UV resistant fluorocarbon thread, are meticulously sewn onto a white MDF background. Each piece is offered non-framed although there is the current option for a white-sprayed Obeche wooden box frame (32 x 32 x 4.5cm) for £60 with standard glass or £72 with UV70 non-refective art glass.
