The Chromatica Triptych and the ‘Colourfolds‘ explore the relationship between light and colour using the primary colours as a starting point.  They are created from a process of scoring, cutting, folding, layering and stitching together layers of photographic lighting gels and single matte drafting film; a film traditionally used for architectural drawings. Each stage of the process is undertaken by hand to create a seamless surface whose colours appear to slightly change as the angle of illumination changes.

The Chromatica Triptych

The Chromatica Triptych (33 x 33 x 5cm framed) is influenced by an enigmatic stained glass window in the Abbaye aux Dames, in Saintes, France. Created later in the early 20th Century, it’s modern geometric simplicity was in contrast to the much larger stained glass windows dating from the 12th century and inspired the harmony and balance for the below pieces.

The Colourfold Tiles

The Colourfold Tiles are available in limited editions of five and are sold as part of the Artist Support Pledge, a pledge that fosters a culture of generosity.  A participating artist sells an artwork for up to £220 and, for every £1000 of sold art, pledges to purchase £220 of art from another participating artist.  The project tries to ensure that artists and their support networks are sustained. Framing and Materials

The bespoke white-stained frames are created from a FSc certified*, white-stained obeche hardwood.  The UV70 Artglass used within the frames not only reduces UV light by 70% but also minimises reflection to the point that it is barely visible.

Acid free ‘dimensionally stable’ drafting film and photographic lighting gels are sewn together with fluorocarbon thread. The artworks are sewn onto an mdf ground that has been sealed and primed with gesso to avoid discolouration of paint. Therefore, your artwork can be guaranteed to maintain its quality and colour for generations to come.

If you would like to buy an artwork you will initially be asked to pay a £100 deposit via Bacs payment to cover the cost of the frame. For all artworks there is a £15 P&P charge for tracked and insured Royal Mail delivery requiring a signature upon receipt.
